The Brief

The client envisioned a private family compound where multiple generations could live together while maintaining individual independence. The brief required a main villa for the primary household, separate guest pavilions for extended family, and shared outdoor spaces that would encourage daily interaction and gatherings.

Equally important was the creation of a calm environment that felt secluded from the surrounding neighbourhood a home that functioned as a private oasis within the city.

Design Approach

The estate is organised along a strong central axis that begins at the entrance courtyard and extends through the garden toward the main villa. This landscaped spine structures the entire compound and creates a visual connection between the buildings.

The primary residence anchors the northern edge of the site, while smaller guest pavilions sit symmetrically on either side of the garden. Covered walkways and shaded pergolas connect the different volumes, allowing movement across the compound while maintaining protection from the sun.

Material choices reflect the warm tones of the regional landscape. Sandstone cladding, terracotta roof elements, and bronze lattice screens give the architecture a quiet elegance while remaining grounded in Middle Eastern architectural traditions.

The Garden & Pool

The landscaped courtyard forms the heart of the residence. Palm-lined pathways divide the garden into a series of symmetrical green spaces that lead the eye toward the central villa.

At the southern end of the site, a swimming pool and shaded pool house create a social hub for the family. The pool terrace acts as a gathering space for outdoor dining, relaxation, and evening events, transforming the courtyard into a vibrant extension of the house.

Together, the gardens, pavilions, and pool establish a sense of balance and serenity a contemporary interpretation of the traditional oasis courtyard.
